Arts-integrated Literacy Residency
Fostering an early love of reading through music and the arts
ImagineARTS is an arts-integrated literacy residency program currently partnering with the Brockton Public School district and the Rockland Public Schools to strengthen early literacy skills among PreK and kindergarten students. It targets specific literacy skills such as sequencing, rhyming, letter sound recognition and syllables through weekly arts-integrated literacy instruction, professional development for classroom teachers, and a bridge to reading and the arts for families.
“I am thankful for the Imagine Arts Program every Monday. My class loves it so much and they are always looking forward to it. Ms. Catherine is an awesome ImagineArts teacher that has so much love for teaching. She is passionate about her profession, and very dedicated and committed, which is why my class is so engaged and loves Imagine Arts. I am using some of Ms.Catherine’s music and incorporating it in my lessons. Thank you all for this program!“

What is ImagineARTs?

Weekly Arts & Literacy Classes
SSC Arts Specialists bring stories to life through singing, movement, dramatic improvisation and instrument play. Activities are selected and adapted to deepen comprehension of story content, introduce thematic vocabulary, and address literacy skills including sequencing and phonemic awareness.

Support for Teachers
ImagineARTS provides access to songs, books, and materials for classroom teachers, empowering them to incorporate the arts into their daily literacy activities.

Family Engagement
We encourage students and their families to enjoy music and reading together by providing storybooks from the curriculum as well as Family Music Nights.
“Our classrooms greatly benefit from this highly engaging curriculum. Students eagerly await their weekly visit from the Conservatory specialist who brings a wide variety of stories to life through music and movement. The South Shore Conservatory is a valued partner of the George School, and they are an important part of our pre-K experience.“
